Storing to the WebWarning! This function is currently running in test mode! There are no security precautions! Your data can almost certainly be read by hackers! Why store on the Web?A major reason for using i2Brain is the improvement in communication it offers. Sometimes the person you want to communicate with isn't in your office or in the same room looking at the picture produced by a projector. But both of you have access to the internet. You could e-mail him the ".i2b" file. But sometimes it is better to have the file in a place where you can both get at it. That's what this function does. As soon as 3 or more people need to read or edit the same file, it is much easier to store it in one location rather than mailing it to everybody after every change. Limitations during the test periodAs yet there isn't a mechanism to synchronize two or more users. That
means that if two or more users read the file more or less simultaneously, work on it and then store to the web, the
last one wins. Changes made by the others are lost. You could overwrite data stored by another user of this function. Similarly,
another user could overwrite your data. Use:In the main window choose "File | Save to Web". Enter the file name and click "OK". Upper and lower case is important here! Make a note of the name because you can't list all the files stored this way in the web. We recommend that you also store the data to your hard-disk as an extra precaution against loss of data. A file stored on the web in this way appears in your "Most Recently Used" list (in the "File" menu) as "web:theNameYouUsed.i2b". Reading from the webChoose "File | Read from web" in the main window. Enter the file name. Don't forget that upper and lower case are important. |
